Time for a …revolution!

It’s the perfect time for a …revolution!

What’s a revolution?

Well , did you know that the earth is in the middle of revolution ,
right now!

Yup, our world revolves around the sun.

It takes 365.25 days for the earth to travel all the way around the sun…that’s a whole year.

And in that year, where the earth is on its revolution,

let’s us know what season it is…amazing.

So, right now, we are in the middle of the summer revolution.

And the turning doesn’t stop there!

The earth also revolves on its axis. …on the spot

Can you turn on the spot!

It takes about 24 hours for the earth to make one big revolution….and depending on where we are in the earth’s revolution makes it daytime or night time…double amazing.

With all that revolving it’s a wonder we aren’t dizzy all the time.

Thank goodness for gravity

But that’s another story!

And then there’s a dirtgirlworld revolution

A dirtgirlworld revolution is turning something around.

Taking something that is not working well

and turning it around so it is working better.

In dirtgirlworld we are having a rubbish revolution.

We are into the 3Rs big time.

We are turning around how we deal with our rubbish.

It’s all about reducing , reusing and recycling.

Sorting our rubbish so it ends up in the right bin is really important.

The last thing we need is more landfill

Taking the time to handle our rubbish with care is easy peasy.

But sometimes it takes a revolution to help get it right.

By now, we all know the sorts of things that go in each bin .

We know that garden waste goes in a green bin, food scraps go in a compost bin and things like tins, cans and plastic bottles go in a recycle bin.

But here’s where we are getting into the revolution.

Re-membering…that’s a new Re word to add to the list

Re member to reduce , reuse and recycle.

Remembering to put things in the right bin.

Remembering to take reusable bags to the shops.

Remembering to buy less stuff.

That’s it….

what if we turned it around and didn’t buy as many things that end up as rubbish in the first place.
What if we had a reducing revolution?

Calling all Greenthumbs... I challenge you start a rubbish revolution at your place

It might be sorting your rubbish, putting your scraps in the compost, helping your family to remember to take reusable bags or refusing a drink because you have your drink bottle with you!

I’d love to know how you go.

Share your rubbish revolution stories and tag me so I can see what you are doing at your place!

Good luck greenthumbs!
