dirtgirl's Nature Detective Academy – Dirt
calling all nature detectives!
Hi nature detectives! It’s dirtgirl here.
Welcome to my Nature Detective Academy! Would you like to go outside exploring with me on a nature detective academy mission? Today, we’re exploring dirt!
Another word for dirt is soil. Soil is super important for our planet! We need healthy soil so that the trees can grow and make the oxygen that we breathe. And we need healthy soil to grow yummy food to eat!

If there’s someone who knows about dirt, it’s Costa the garden gnome!
worms rock!
Worms are great to have in the garden. They keep the soil healthy by eating rotting organic matter and pooing and weeing into the soil which nourishes it! You can also keep worms in a worm farm. If you put your kitchen scraps into your worm farm, the worms will eat the scraps and turn them into liquid fertiliser which you can use to feed your garden.
