Happy Earth Day

5 ways to celebrate Earth Day at home

Did you know that Wednesday 22 April is Earth Day? It’s one of my favourite days of the year.

Earth Day is a big event celebrated all around the world and I’ve come up with some amazing ideas for how we can all party for the planet this year.

  1. Make some delicious earth balls

Every celebration needs party food and these yummy earth balls are a tasty snack to enjoy on World Earth Day. They are so fun and easy to make. I’ll be making these at home in dirtgirlworld. Yum yum!

2. Make your own natural dyes for playdough

Who doesn’t love playdough! It’s easy to make at home. But have you ever coloured your playdough with natural dyes?

You can make different colours with all sorts of things from nature like avocado stones, blueberries, coffee, turmeric and red cabbage. Roll your playdough into balls to make little Earths and decorate them with flowers, leaves and herbs!

Here are my favourite instructions for making natural dyes for playdough from The Imagination Tree. Click HERE for the instructions

3. Make a nature heart

If you have a backyard or can go outside for a walk, you can make a nature heart to show your love for our Earth. Take a photo and share it with someone that you love!

4. Rock out with a recycled band!

All good celebrations need music. You can make your own musical instruments out of recycled objects. Cardboard cereal boxes make great guitars. Plastic bottles make awesome maracas.

Here are some ideas below. The only limit is your imagination!

Put on a show and sing along to one of my favourite songs Little Things.

Here are the song words too!

5. Share your Earth Day photo

This year our Earth Day photo theme is “Keeping an Eye on the Earth”. Join in the celebration by taking a photo with your eye and nature as the stars of the shot  (like the photos below). Share your special Earth Day photo with us by tagging #KeepingAnEyeOnTheEarth #Earthday2022.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Let’s make 2022 the best Earth Day yet!
