Happy World Environment Day

Hi greenthumbs!

Happy World Environment Day!!
We celebrate World Environment Day on the 5th of June every year. It’s a day to get all excited and party for our planet! It’s kind of like a birthday, but for nature, so I’m going to share some super fun party ideas with you.

But first, here are…

Five amazing facts about nature and our environment!

1.There are over 8 million species on the planet – yep, we are one of them.
2. Koalas sleep for over 18 hours a day – where do they sleep? In trees!
3. All insects have six legs
(technically a spider is not an insect – they have eight legs)
4.The Nile River in Africa is the longest river in the world
(the Amazon River is the 2nd longest)
5.The smallest bird in the world is the Bee Hummingbird
(and the biggest is the Ostrich!)

Our environment is made up of the desert and oceans, the snow and the sky, the forest and the mountains, the rivers and the trees. Our world is so beautiful – there are just so many amazing sights, animals, insects and plants all around us. The environment makes the air that we breathe, the water that we drink and the food that we eat. Incredible!

So that’s why I’m CALLING ALL GREENTHUMBS!!!

It’s time to celebrate World Environment Day!!!

Make a Nature Crown

First, we need to make a party hat. You can make a nature crown out of old cardboard and some leaves or feathers!

Make some decorations

Now it’s time to decorate. You can have a party inside or outside. Here are some ideas that I just love.

Party playlist

What else do we need at a party? MUSIC!! Here are some songs to dance to! I’ve made you a playlist.

Colour in

You can print out this colouring-in sheet, and paint or colour it in!

Today’s the Day

Welcome back to happiness headquarters! On this episode of Today’s the Day it’s all about planet love. Find out some great ways to help our planet, how to make a wish for our planet and listen to a funny joke sent in from one of our greenthumbs! And you can ‘get up’ and exercise with me gumboot style! Today’s the Day is handmade by me (and it goes for about 9 minutes).

Have fun greenthumbs!

Happy World Environment Day!
