Clean Up Australia Day

Hi greenthumbs! It’s dirtgirl here.

Did you know that Clean Up Australia Day is happening soon on Sunday 7 March? And I’m super excited because this is Australia’s biggest community environmental event of the year!

Clean Up Australia has been going for 30 years. That’s amazing! More than 380,000 ute loads of rubbish have been removed as part of Clean Up Australia activities. And it’s all been collected by incredible volunteers that care about our planet. People just like me and you!

This year the theme is step up to clean up!

How to register

You can register to do a clean up on Sunday 7 March or any day of the year. Maybe you could get your friends and family together to do a clean up in your neighbourhood or at your local beach. You can register online at this website.

How to do a COVID-19 safe clean up

Like a lot of things, this year’s Clean Up Australia Day will look a little different because of COVID-19. You can find out how to do a COVID-19 safe clean up on this webpage. As always, gloves and sturdy shoes are a must.

Share

How will you step up this year when it comes to rubbish? You can share your pledge using the hashtags #CleanUpAustralia #StepUpToCleanUp. A pledge is like a promise to say how you will do something good to help our planet. It’s a powerful thing to do!

we-refill tangaroa beach clean up

Jack Johnson (he’s a big star musician too) and I got together with Tangaroa Blue and a whole heap of amazing people to do a beach clean up a little while ago. It was the best fun! Check it out!

Bye greenthumbs!
