Compost Week 2021
Hi greenthumbs. It’s dirtgirl here!
What’s your favourite word that starts with the letter “C”? Mine is “compost”! From 2 to 8 May, it’s International Compost Awareness Week. And Costa is an official ambassador! So to celebrate, we’re sharing our special Today’s the Day episode with you. And you can make a pledge to start a home compost and enter the annual photo competition.
But first, let’s talk compost. Compost is AMAZING! We can put our food scraps into the compost and it will turn into beautiful, healthy soil that we can put into our veggie garden to help our food grow! Costa the Garden Gnome and I call it magic, because it’s how we turn our food trash into treasure! Compost rocks!

Costa is well known for getting around to lots of places, and now you can have him at your place all the time! Here’s our crafty solution…a circular economy Costa doll that doesn’t cost the earth.
Cut him out, sew him together, turn out and fill it with stuffing from an old pillow or cushion (or use odd socks or an old jumper cut up small) and he’s ready to take on all your outside adventures! You can find him at the dirtgirlworld shop.
