Mud Pies Rock!
Hi greenthumbs!
It’s International Mud Day on Monday 29 June! What?! A special day just for mud? Of course!
And that means it’s time for the ….
ANNUAL MUD PIE BAKE-OFF!!
Do you like making mud pies? I do. I love mixing the water and soil together and getting my hands into the mud!
how to make a mud pie
Well, first you need to put on some old clothes that can get really grubby.
Then you’ll need to find some old cups, plates, tin pans and nature decorations like leaves, stones, flowers and seeds.
Then you mix together some dirt and water to make MUD! If it’s been raining you might be able to find a muddy puddle. Or otherwise, you can put some water into a bucket and mix it with the dirt.
After you’ve made your mud mix, use an old cup or a spade to pour the mud into your tin pans or blob it onto a plate. I like to use an old pie tin or a cupcake tray to put my mud pies into.
Now it’s time to decorate with flowers, leaves and other nature decorations. You could also sprinkle some sand over the top.
Then you leave them to bake in the sun! Easy, peasy. Or if you have a mud kitchen with a pretend oven you can put them in there to bake.
The only rule is, you can’t eat them! These pies are not for eating hehe!
When you’re finished, don’t forget to wash your hands with warm water and soap.
So there you have it! That’s the way to do a great pie bake-off.
Here are some more amazing ideas to try.

Just check with your big people first! Different families have different rules for photos and we will always respect that!
Have fun greenthumbs!
