Make a summer sensory box

Hi greenthumbs.

Have you ever made or played with a nature sensory box? What about a summer sensory box?! This is a fun summer activity for kids.

What you need

a box (a plastic box is best if you want to add water)

some sand (or rice)

shells and rocks

some little animal toys that can get wet

and water!

What else? You could try using some natural dyes to make different colours. You could add bi-carb soda and lemon juice if you really want to fizz things up and make some frothy waves! You could freeze some icecubes or even make frozen sand to cool things down.

How to play. Make a little scene (a mini world!) in your box, then play! There are no rules. You could make a beach, an underwater world or a top camping spot! You could even make an ice cream shop.
